Leesman is a survey and auditing tool aimed at providing integral measurements on workplace effectiveness.

An anonymous online survey, which is taken by staff at all levels, provides data on a wide range of different subjects. These data points are compiled in research reports and translated into a single aggregate figure called Lmi. This summary indicates the average workplace effectiveness, seen from the perspective of its users.

This combination of aggregate data and individual feedback can provide valuable input into an office design or redesign process. Due to the generic focus of the individual questions, the tool functions as a broad benchmark. It can be used to assess current situations or to measure the effectiveness of change due to repeated surveys.

Because Leesman combines the neutral data from all surveys, individual scores/points can be compared to national or international averages so identify points of improvement or points of success.
Eckhart feels that the Leesman approach adds a valuable piece of autonomous neutral data input to the regular design process. The easy comparisons and the focus of the questions can provide invaluable feedback on our work as workplace consultants and designers.
