A working environment is a space that (hopefully) stimulates, drives and inspires people to function optimally. Our wishes and expectations about this working environment have been in constant development over the past decades. This development runs parallel to a shift in the variety of working tasks and the technical means to achieve these.
In the past years, this development has been called “The New Way of Working” in The Netherlands. No single definition of this New Way is available, because the term keeps expanding in meaning and interpretation. As part of our research and analysis into the development of the working environment, we have studied the development of The New Way of Working. This development consists of a number of steps, which we’ve looked at and described separately.
We distinguish the following 3 steps/versions:
