We’ve just returned from a visit of the Wilkhahn factories in Bad Münder in Germany. Wilkhahn is a major manufacturer of office and project furniture, with a great range of innovations and beautiful products.
A factory visit is always overwhelming in the sheer amount of impressions and inspiration that is provided, especially for a large manufacturer like Wilkhahn. Instead of just describing the visit, we’ve decided to try and distill the sense of the company and its strong points that we noticed.

The core of the Wilkhahn company seems to be in innovation, a continuous drive forwards to create the best and most innovative products. This drive is most apparent in the various table- and conference systems and in the chair families, wit hits culmination in the ON task chair.

This goes especially for the systems that Wilkhahn has developed for various communications solutions. These conference, meeting, brainstorm and training tables are uniquely suited for customization, powered by a great team of engineers and developers that create custom specifications for table solutions as designed by an architect.

We’ve mostly progressed far enough for everyone to talk the talk, but vary few companies in the world of furniture are ready to walk the walk. We were very impressed with the Willkhahn dedication and preparation for sustainable production. This included both things at the micro-scale (products and packaging that incorporate a fully sustainable life cycle) and at the macro-scale (production and office facilities powered by a bio-mass co-generation plant on-site and various organisational principles).
