The LC series, consisting of timeless classics such as the LC4 chaise longue, the LC2 and LC3 lounge chairs and the LC6 table as well as lesser known pieces, is one of the most enduring and popular series of furniture in the world. The series was designed by Le Corbusier, in cooperation with Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand.

History

Le Corbusier was the artist name for Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris. He was originally born in Switzerland and he changed to the French nationality in his thirties. He was one of the founders of the International Style, a branch of modernism that became the dominant style in architecture for decades. He combined his work as an architect with painting, writing books and polemicals and designing furniture. The prolific output of Le Corbusier was produced in close cooperation with his nephew, Pierre Jeanneret, as well as with the architect Charlotte Perriand. Various pieces were designed for architecture projects or exhibitions that he was responsible for, allowing for 'total design' as one of the leading principles.
